Meet the artist
Charles Weckwerth was born in Topeka, Kansas, grew up in Germany and Maryland, and returned to Topeka at age ten. Charles received his BFA from Kansas State University with a concentration in painting and printmaking in Manhattan, Kansas in 2023. He also attended the Summer Undergraduate Residency Program offered at New York Academy of Art in 2022. Currently working as the sole shop technician of Kansas State University Printmaking, Charles runs 15 hours a week of open shop access. He is responsible for safety, equipment, and inventory as well as assisting undergraduate students with print processes including intaglio, relief, and screen printing.
Charles’s work has been shown in group shows at Tippetts and Eccles Gallery in Utah State University, Hendershot Gallery in Lebette Community College, at the Mark A. Chapman Gallery in Kansas State University, as well as the New York Academy of Art. Charles re-formed the painting club and served as the president for two years. Also, a member of K-State's Prairie Fire Printmakers, he served as Visiting Artist Coordinator of the club for three years. During fall semester 2022, Charles was selected as an Ambassador for the K-State Department of Art.
Currently Charles is continuing to make work out from his private studio in Kansas. .
